Don’t wait to change. Now is all that exists.

I heard a quote the other day that lodged itself in my mind, I don’t know where it originated, but I’ve been thinking about it.

Here it is…

“Today is the last day of who you used to be.”

At first glance, it sounds nice, it sounds inspiring and motivating.

But, is it?

As I’ve been mulling it over I noticed that it bothered me for a couple of reasons.

First, it puts change into the future.

Change doesn’t happen in the future. It happens in the present.

In truth, nothing happens in the future because the only time that ever exists is the now.

If today is the last day of who you’ve been then you won’t be someone new until tomorrow. But, tomorrow doesn’t exist.

And why would you want to wait to change if you could do it today?

The other thing about this that’s been bugging me is that it assumes you’ll still be who you used to be today.

You don’t have to be.

You can change who you are in an instant.

You can change who you are immediately the moment that you decide to.

You don’t have to be who you’ve been.

You can change who you’re being every single moment of every single day if you really wanted (although changing that often sounds mighty exhausting).

This moment is the only moment that exists, so be who you want to be right now.

Don’t wait. Life is happening now.

The future isn’t promised to any of us, so choose to be who you want to be, and be her NOW.

Remember, you absolutely can Love Your Life and Live Your Dreams. It all begins within.
