I know there are things that you committed to doing that you haven’t done—yet.
And I want you to know that it’s okay.
You don’t need to beat yourself up over it.
There’s no need to create drama about it.
Acknowledge that you’ve not followed through.
Re-commit to doing it.
And move forward.
The problem most of us have lies not in failing to do the thing but in the story we tell ourselves about failing to do it.
Imagine that all the things you want to be doing are like the switches on a breaker box.
When you follow through and do them they stay in the on position, you feel good. And, if you’re like me, you probably brush it off as nothing. It’s just what you do.
But, when you don’t follow through and that switch blows…
Drama ensues.
It’s this drama that’s the issue because it pulls our focus away from our desires.
If you just acknowledged that it switched off and flipped it back then all would be well. You’d carry merrily on your way to achieving your goals and aspirations.
Yet, that’s not what we do, is it? Instead, we create a whole lot of drama. We tell ourselves stories…
I’m not good enough.
I never follow through.
What’s wrong with me?
Why can’t I just do this thing consistently?
I’m never going to make it.
…and on and on it goes.
And, love, that is the problem.
Not that the ‘breaker blew’. Not that you didn’t do the thing. But that you made not doing the thing a big fucking deal.
So you didn’t do it. You’re not going to die. You didn’t ruin your chances of success. Right?
What if instead you simply…
Acknowledged that you didn’t do it.
Re-committed to doing it.
And moved on.
Just flip the switch back. No drama required.
Remember, you absolutely can Love Your Life and Live Your Dreams. It all begins within.
