What if it’s all happening for you?
What if the shitty experiences—the letdowns, the breakdowns, the meltdowns, the disappointments, the hurts—all happened for you?
Sometimes it’s hard to see how the crap we’re going through is for us, that it’s actually a blessing in some way. But it is—if you’re open to seeing it.
Last night, I read a book and the protagonist was going through some shit, cheating spouse, runaway teen, financial woes, and through it all her mom kept reminding her that every storm brings a rainbow.
I liked that.
Every storm brings a rainbow.
(I don’t know if it’s actually true, but the sentiment is powerful).
There’s a reason sayings like ‘every cloud has a silver lining’, ‘blessing in disguise’, ‘the darkest hour is just before the dawn’ exist.
There’s truth to them.
You can’t control what happens to you in life.
But you can control how you respond and how you think about what happens.
If you focus on the shittiness of it then, of course, you’re going to feel shitty.
You’re going to be stuck and frustrated and angry and hurt and all those other emotions that we want to experience as part of the fullness of being human, but that we don’t want to live in.
But, if you look for the rainbow, if you seek out the silver lining, if you’re open to the blessings then everything that happens gets to be for you.
It gets to serve you.
It gets to help you on your journey to living the life you want and being who you choose to be.
The choice is yours.
Choose to see everything, even the shitty, painful things, as happening to you.
OR
Choose to see everything, even the shitty, painful things, as happening for you.
Your choice. Make it a good one.
Remember, you absolutely can Love Your Life and Live Your Dreams. It all begins within.
