How many times do you flashback to moments from your past?
How often do you sit in rumination berating yourself for the actions you took or didn’t take.
But, to what end?
You did what you did back then because it’s what you knew to do with the thoughts and beliefs that you had at that time.
There’s a reason the saying ‘hindsight is 20/20’ exists. Because it’s only after the fact that we gain the knowledge, the lessons, the wisdom from the experience.
Of course, now with the insights and knowledge gained from the experience you’d choose differently (or maybe you wouldn’t), but you didn’t have those insights back then.
It’s all well and good to say that you’d do something differently, but really you’re just arguing with what is and that’s keeping you from experiencing the inner peace you crave.
Yes, take a look at the “mistakes” of your past. But do so with the intention of gathering the wisdom to be gained and then move on.
If you want to sit and ruminate it would do much more for you to contemplate the future.
Flash forward a year from now…
Where do you want to be?
Who do you want to be?
How do you want to be spending your time?
How do you want to be nourishing your mind, body, and spirit?
Where do you want your business to be?
What do you want your social life to be like? Your love life?
How’s your relationship with yourself?
Think about that.
Imagine you’re already there, what obstacles did you have to overcome to get there? How did you overcome them?
Think about that.
The next time a flashback occurs, pause, breathe, and connect to this moment. And then take it a step further and flash forward.
Perhaps, imagining the future will help you more than imagining the past.
Remember, you absolutely can Love Your Life and Live Your Dreams. It all begins within.
